Uzbekistan becomes a leader in supplying textile products to neighboring countries
The markets in Tajikistan mainly sell goods from China, Turkey and Kyrgyzstan. But since the borders have been opened, a demand for Made in Uzbekistan products has grown. Uzbekistan supplies clothing, food, and home appliances to Tajikistan, Gezitter writes.
According to official data, in 2018, trade volume between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan doubled.
An entrepreneur Nargis Khafizova trades in the “Karvon” market in Dushanbe and has previously imported goods from China and Kyrgyzstan. However, for six months she has changed business lines and begun to deliver clothes from Uzbekistan.
“It is much better than China and Kyrgyzstan. Before that, I used to spend 7-10 days on the road to get to China or another country. A visit to Uzbekistan takes 2-3 days. The prices for goods are much lower there,” she said.
According to her, many entrepreneurs are experiencing difficulties on the road when shipping goods from China, Kyrgyzstan or Turkey. Earlier, Kyrgyz textile industry had good reputation and a leading position among neighboring countries. But now Uzbekistan has taken the leadership.
