World Customs Organization Secretary General expresses readiness to assist Uzbekistan in reforming customs sector
Today, November 14, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Kunio Mikuriya, who is on a visit in Tashkent to take part in the CAREC Ministerial Conference.
At the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted with satisfaction the growing constructive cooperation of our country with the World Customs Organization.

Uzbekistan has been a member of this authoritative international structure since 1992. During this period, joint measures and projects have been successfully implemented to form the legal framework, modernize infrastructure and increase the efficiency of the customs authorities of Uzbekistan.

There has been a noticeable intensification of exchanges in recent years, primarily in such areas as improving customs administration and training qualified personnel, including at the organization’s headquarters in Brussels.
During the conversation, practical aspects of expanding cooperation to increase the capacity of customs authorities through the introduction of international standards, equipping posts with modern tools, strengthening the fight against offenses, and training specialists in leading foreign centers were discussed.
An agreement was reached on the joint development and adoption of a roadmap in the near future for deepening cooperation.

The Secretary General of the World Customs Organization, expressing appreciation for the warm welcome, praised the effectiveness of the ongoing socio-economic reforms in Uzbekistan, as well as the policy to strengthen good neighborliness and partnership in Central Asia.
Kunio Mikuriya assured that the organization will actively assist in continuing the reform of the customs bodies of our country and expanding regional trade and economic cooperation.
