Report: 80% of Uzbek migrants work in Russia
Today, more than 2 million 600 citizens of Uzbekistan work in foreign countries.
According to Uza.uz, 80% of labor migrants, that is, 2 million 200 of them are in Russia, 350,000 – in Kazakhstan, 80,000 – in South Korea, 60,000 – in Turkey and other countries.
Many people say that these statistics from the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations differ from real figures. A ministerial representative said that the difference between the numbers was small. According to the official, last year, labor migrants from Uzbekistan sent more than $5 billion in foreign currency to Uzbekistan.
As the Ministry states, today the economically inactive population of Uzbekistan is reduced by 205,000 people. Unemployment rate dropped from 9% to 8%. According to the current reports, the number of unemployed population in our country is 1 million 300 people. Of these, 32,000 are involved in vocational training. 50,000 people receive unemployment benefits. Currently, 304,500 new jobs have been created.
Reportedly, the Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions have the highest unemployment rate.
