President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev continues his official visit to Japan.
Today, the head of state met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe. Following the bilateral meetings, the heads of both states attended a media briefing. Speaking to journalists, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that he believes relations with Japan will advance to a new level.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev, thanking the Japanese side for the hospitality, congratulated the people of Japan on the beginning of the “Reiwa” era.
The President also noted that relations between the people of Uzbekistan and Japan are very friendly, and many Japanese now live in Uzbekistan.
“First of all, I would like to thank Prime Minister Shinzō Abe and the Japanese people for their hospitality. Our respect for the Japanese nation has always been high,” said the head of state.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated that at the briefing politicians discussed international issues. In particular, the President of Uzbekistan said he supports Japan’s permanent membership in the UN Security Council.
“We want Japan to be a permanent member of the UN Security Council. We support Japan to become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2022. Uzbekistan also supports the continuation of the “Central Asia + Japan” dialogue,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The President noted that Japanese high-tech business is very useful for Uzbekistan, adding that the country will create all conditions for Japanese businesses.
“Our meetings today were fruitful. I hope that the agreements we have signed will bring our relations to a new level. I would like to thank Japan for its practical support of the reforms we are undertaking. We will create favorable conditions for Japanese business in Uzbekistan. Mr. Abe, I invite you to Uzbekistan,” Kun.uz correspondent quotes Shavkat Mirziyoyev as saying.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s official visit to Japan ends tomorrow, December 20, after meeting with the Emperor of Japan Naruhito.
