Svetlana Artikova on the case of Shukhrat Ganiyev: Regardless of one’s social status, everyone should be equal before the law

Deputy Prosecutor General Svetlana Artikova, during an interview with Kun.uz correspondent, commented on the latest news about the khokim of Fergana region Shukhrat Ganiyev.

“The Prosecutor General’s Office is aware that he is not being held accountable. If you visit our official website, you will find statements about the case of the regional khokim of Fergana. 

I think that the Prosecutor General’s Office will react if any khokim disobeys the law. If he has bypassed the law, he will have to be accountable before the law.

Firstly, each person has to have self-esteem.  When he respects himself, he will not mistreat another person and will not speak negatively against the law or society. I think, we will get back to this topic. The Senate must also respond to it. Regardless of one’s social status, everyone should be equal before the constitution and the law,” she said.

It should be recalled that on December 14, an audio recording went viral on the network, in which the khokim of Fergana region Shukhrat Ganiyev criticized the khokim of the Kuva district as he “did not recite a memorial prayer” to the blogger, who posted a video on social networks about the protests against the lack of gas in Kuva, where people blocked the motorway. 

Later, the deputy of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis Rasul Kusherbayev asked the prosecutor’s office to give a legal assessment of “another sensational case” with participation of the khokim of Fergana region Shukhrat Ganiyev.

 So far, no official response has been provided on the case.
