President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov is not planning to go for a second term
President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov said that he does not plan to go for a second term. He spoke about it at a press conference on December 25.
One of the journalists expressed the opinion that one presidential term would not be enough to implement all the reforms Jeenbekov has initiated.
“No, no, no need. There is no need for a second term,” the president replied, after which he asked to move on to other issues.
According to the constitution of the republic, the president of Kyrgyzstan is elected for a term of six years, but only once. The inauguration of Jeenbekov took place in November 2017. The next presidential election will be held in 2023.
