Shavkat Mirziyoyev: I’m looking for women for the position of district khokim, but I can’t find any

President Shavkat Mirziyoev at the first meeting of the Senate of Oliy Majlis touched upon the issues of enhancing the role of women in society.

“We have to work hard to ensure gender equality in executive bodies, ministries and agencies, and to appoint women to responsible positions in government organizations.

Regional khokims should talk to district heads, and every year should write me a letter, personally to the president, about the positions offered to women and the appointments made,” Mirziyoyev said. “You will report at the end of the year.”

“I’m looking for women for the position of district khokim, but I can’t find any.

They should be given an opportunity to prove their worth. We should strengthen their role. Whether you like it or not. I approve it.

Why? I want to reiterate that our women can set an example for everyone with their deep understanding of problems, dedication, a sense of responsibility and diligence,” Kun.uz correspondent quotes the president as saying.
