Michael Pompeo: Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s ambitious reform agenda is yielding significant progress
US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, who arrived in Tashkent late on February 2, posted a message on Twitter about main points of his visit to the country.

“Visiting Uzbekistan today. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s ambitious reform agenda is yielding significant progress, and I look forward to discussing ways to continue advancing peace, prosperity, and security through our partnership,” Pompeo said.

He also held a meeting with the chief imam of the city of Tashkent, Nuriddin Kholiknazarov.
“Met with religious leaders in Uzbekistan on how reforms and legal revisions can promote greater religious freedom. The government’s progress in this area has been impressive, and I look forward to seeing Uzbekistan make further advances,” the statement reads.
US State Department delegation is expected to be received by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today.
Michael Pompeo will also attend a C5 + 1 Ministerial in Tashkent.
