Ashraf Ghani considers Uzbekistan an example for other countries in the matter of economic assistance to Afghanistan
On February 10-12, the special representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev held talks in the cities of Hairaton, Mazar-i-Sharif and Kabul with the Transport Minister of the country Yama Shams, the leadership of the Balkh province, the city of Hairaton, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as representatives of the business community of the Balkh province.
The main items on the agenda were issues of expansion of trade-economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, finding solutions to problems arising from the transportation of goods, including transit, as well as an increase in bilateral trade figures, the press service of the Uzbek MFA reported.
In particular, the Transport Minister of Afghanistan Yama Shams emphasized the fact that President Ashraf Gani considers Uzbekistan an example for other countries in the matter of economic assistance to the IRA.
Agreements were reached on a significant expansion of freight and transit traffic to Afghanistan and through the territory of this country, reduction of existing railway tariffs, which will contribute to deepening trade-economic cooperation between the two countries, including in the field of export-import operations.
They also discussed issues of increasing export deliveries of various Uzbek-made goods to Afghanistan, expanding the range of products supplied to the IRA from Uzbekistan.
In turn, Afghan businessmen, expressing sincere gratitude to the Government of Uzbekistan for the conditions created for their effective and fruitful work, presented their suggestions and comments on the further development of trade-economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.
