Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the work being carried out in Sardoba district
The President visited the “Navoi” mahalla of the Sardoba district, which was severely damaged by the disaster.
Currently, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev is in Syrdarya region due to the incident at the Sardoba reservoir, the “Uzbekistan24” TV channel reported.
The head of state visited the reservoir today, inspected the work being carried out to restore the dam, discussed in detail the initiatives with experts and made recommendations on strengthening the dam.
After that, the President visited the “Navoi” mahalla of the Sardoba district, which was badly damaged by the disaster. Members of the government commission briefed on the work being done to clean the area and stabilize the sanitary situation.
President Mirziyoyev visited the village, inspected the damage to homes and spoke with local residents.
It should be recalled that on the morning of May 1, the Sardoba reservoir in Syrdarya region suffered a dam breakthrough. As a result, residential settlements, communication networks and agricultural lands were damaged.
56 people were hospitalized with various injuries. A total of 17,300 people underwent medical examinations.
About 70,000 people from 22 settlements of Sardoba, Akaltyn and Mirzaabad districts were evacuated.
