After Sardoba reservoir suffered a dam breakthrough, a criminal case has been opened into the case, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office said.
“On the fact of the flood caused by the May 1 breakthrough of the Sardoba reservoir in the Syrdarya region, a criminal case has been opened under Articles 207 and 258 of the Criminal Code,” the report said.
Investigation of the criminal case has been entrusted to the State Security Service.
On May 1, a breakthrough of one of the dams of the Sardoba reservoir in the Syrdarya region occurred. About 70 thousand people living in the vicinity of the reservoir were evacuated to safe areas, no casualties were recorded. Several settlements were flooded, roads and agricultural lands were damaged.
To restore the dam, a total of 100 units of trucks were involved in organizing the delivery of stone and gravel.
To conduct a search-rescue operation on the water and to accurately assess the situation, to determine the size of the damage caused by the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 75 people and 13 special motor boats were involved, rescue-search operations were carried out.
