President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that those responsible for the tragedy at the Sardoba reservoir will be punished.
“At my instructions, law enforcement agencies have launched an objective, impartial and comprehensive investigation into the flood incident.
I assure our people that according to the results of the investigation, all guilty persons, regardless of who they are or what position they hold, will be held accountable before the law,” the head of state said.
The President thanked the compatriots who supported the people of the Syrdarya region in difficult times.
“Despite these problems, I would like to emphasize that our people have not lost themselves in the face of these trials. You see on television that our people are becoming more united, showing their kindness, tolerance, great generosity every day, every minute. This is evidenced by the fact that 81% of people evacuated from Sardoba, Akaltyn, Mirzaabad districts were welcomed by residents of Syrdarya, Jizzakh and Tashkent regions, and settled in their homes.
Other regions, ministries, companies and associations, as well as our population, in a short period of time rendered great help to Bukhara and Syrdarya, sent building materials, food, clothing, medicines and household goods.
I would like to take this opportunity to once again express my sincere gratitude to our patient, generous and compassionate people for helping the victims,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
