EU High Representative supports Uzbekistan’s efforts to join the WTO
Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov had a telephone conversation with EU High Representative and Vice President Josep Borrell Fontelles.
According to the MFA press service, the parties exchanged views on the schedule of holding the EU–Central Asia Ministerial Conference on connectivity and sustainable development in the region.
The sides expressed confidence in the early completion of the negotiation process on the draft Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and EU, and its adoption during the summit.
Josep Borrell Fontelles supported Uzbekistan’s efforts to join the WTO.
During the talks, special attention was paid to further development of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation, which is particularly relevant against the background of the current situation with the pandemic.
EU High Representative praised the steps taken by the country’s leadership to contain the spread of coronavirus and counteract the consequences of the pandemic, both at national and regional levels.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the negotiations.
