Flood in Sardoba cost Uzbekistan $148.5 million
Flood in the Syrdarya region cost the state $148.5 million.
According to the “Yuksalish” nationwide movement, 1.5 trillion soums were allocated from the state budget in order to support the population and restore work.
Of this amount, 123 billion soums will be spent on repairing houses. It is also planned to build 3 new blocks and several social facilities.
In addition, 163 billion soums will be spent on restoration of drinking water sources, 390 billion – on roads and bridges, 100 billion – on irrigation systems, 13 billion – on communications, 22 billion – on natural gas, 68 billion – on electricity, and 1 billion – on the restoration of documents.
It should be recalled that on May 1 there was a dam breakthrough at the Sardoba reservoir, Syrdarya region.
About 70 thousand people living in the vicinity of the reservoir were evacuated to safe areas. Several settlements were flooded, roads and agricultural lands were damaged.
