MPE official announces the number of schoolchildren graduating this year

“Today, the 2019-2020 academic year has officially ended in all secondary public schools throughout the country. Due to the quarantine announced in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic in our country, the “Last Bell” ceremony was not held.

In the 2019-2020 academic year, about 490 thousand pupils graduated from 9th grade, more than 451.3 thousand pupils – from 11th grade. Some of the 9th-grade graduates will continue their education in the reorganized secondary specialized educational institutions from the 2020-2021 academic year, and the 11th-grade graduates will continue their studies in higher education institutions. A part of the graduates, who won’t continue their academic life, will start their careers.

According to the Regulation of the Cabinet of Ministers “On the procedure for awarding talented graduates of secondary public schools and academic lyceums with gold and silver medals”, the gold and silver medals are presented to graduates of 9th grade, who have a certificate of excellence, graduates of 10th and 11th grades, as well as academic lyceums, who have completed the academic quarters with excellent grades on all subjects, who have presented exemplary behavior and been active in public affairs.

“According to the requests received from the regions, a total of 6,901 pupils are vying for gold and silver medals. Of these, 4,682 pupils are expected to receive gold medals, and 2,219 pupils – silver medals,” the ministerial representative said.

Earlier, the Minister of Public Education Sherzod Shermatov issued an order “On the completion of the 2019-2020 academic year in secondary public schools and the provision of pupils with certificates”. According to the document, school graduates will receive certificates in an electronic form (scanned) before June 15.
