On July 6, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The leader of Uzbekistan congratulated Nazarbayev on his 80th birthday, sincerely wishing him good health, well-being and new successes, the presidential press service reported.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted the historic role of Elbasy in the development of modern Kazakhstan, the improvement of State administration institutions and the system of training of national personnel, the implementation of effective social and economic reforms aimed at increasing the country’s competitiveness, strengthening its international authority and, most importantly, ensuring a high standard of living for the population,” the report states.
One of the successful major initiatives of Elbasy was the founding of the new capital – Nur Sultan (formerly Astana).
During the telephone conversation, the parties discussed a number of topical issues on the bilateral agenda and international policy. They also emphasized the importance of continuing close coordination and collaboration to combat the spread of coronavirus infection and to reduce the negative impact of the pandemic on existing mutually beneficial cooperation.
