“This wonderful holiday, which has occupied a special place in our spiritual life, is a symbol of kindness, mutual understanding and tolerance. On these blessed days, I wish all the people of Uzbekistan health, happiness, peace and prosperity. In the current conditions, when we, like all other countries of the world, are not spared by the trial – the coronavirus pandemic, we are even more deeply understanding the huge role and significance of Eid al-Adha in the life of our society,” Mirziyoyev said.

The President stressed that today doing good deeds, mutual assistance, mercy and generosity, the preservation of peace and tranquility are of particular relevance.

“Despite the necessary measures taken by our state and society, unfortunately, there are cases of death from coronavirus infection. I express my most sincere condolences and deep sympathy to the relatives and friends of our compatriots, whose lives were taken away by this insidious disease. We all understand very well that due to the pandemic, we had to introduce some restrictions on the holding of mass events, including religious ceremonies, also associated with Eid al-Adha. The holy Quran repeatedly says that only he will be awarded the highest grace, who adorns life with good deeds. Today, in the days of trial, adherence to such eternal truths contributes to the strengthening of an atmosphere of humanism and harmony, friendship and solidarity in our society,” the President noted.

According to Mirziyoyev, the national movement “Sakhovat va Kumak” organized in the country has become a powerful force today.

“As a logical continuation of all this work of ours and for the further strengthening of state support for low-income strata of the population and families that do not have a permanent source of income, today I have signed a decree, according to which for these purposes from the republican budget in addition to the previously allocated 10 trillion soums, another 2.5 trillion soums will be directed. Along with this, in order to encourage representatives of the religious and spiritual sphere, widely promoting the ideas of peace, friendship, mercy and harmony, as well as to raise charitable work on the ground to a new level and increase the effectiveness of large-scale events conducted on the basis of the principle of “education against ignorance”, Public Charitable Foundation Vaqf under the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan will be allocated funds in the amount of 150 billion soums,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
