Customs officers prevent attempts to evade customs duties worth 3.8 billion soums
In accordance with Resolution No. 347 of the Cabinet of Ministers “On the introduction of recycling fees for cars, self-propelled vehicles and their trailers”, from August 1, a utilization fee was introduced when registering vehicles.
Utilization fees are charged directly during the customs clearance of vehicles under the “free circulation” customs regime. However, there are attempts by some crafty people to evade the fee, the press service of the State Customs Committee reported.
Reportedly, employees of the foreign economic activity post “Ark buloq” of the Tashkent city customs department examined the data of the electronic customs cargo declaration submitted for registration of 46 HYUNDAI vehicles under the “free circulation” customs regime. It was established that the utilization fee in the amount of 3 billion 385 million soums was not specified in the customs declaration.
When employees of the Anti-Smuggling and Customs Audit Department of Tashkent studied the data of the customs cargo declaration at the customs post “Toshkent tovar”, it was found out that the utilization fee in the amount of 419.2 million soums was not specified for 5 YUTONG buses and 5 JAC minibusses.
In another case identified in this post, when examining the data of the customs cargo declaration submitted electronically for registration of a KIA BONGO truck under the “free circulation” customs regime, customs officers identified that a utilization fee in the amount of 46.3 million soums was not specified in the customs cargo declaration.
“As a result of the abovementioned cases, evasion of recycling fees worth about 3.8 billion soums was prevented. At present, the customs authorities are investigating the case,” the report reads.
