Deputies approve the draft law on increasing fines for illegal cutting down of trees in first reading
The draft law on introducing amendments and additions to some legislative acts of Uzbekistan in connection with improving the protection of flora throughout the country has been considered in the first reading at a meeting of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis.

The bill increases criminal and administrative liability for illegal cutting down of trees, bushes and other plants.
“This document introduces amendments to the Criminal Code. It provides for the strengthening of sanctions by doubling the amount of fines. In addition, the Administrative Responsibility Code establishes the confiscation of tools and items that were the direct subject of administrative offenses committed in this area,” Nurdinjon Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, said.
According to him, the adoption of the bill will ensure the prevention of illegal cutting, uprooting, destruction, damage, transplantation of trees, shrubs and other plants. Also, it will serve to reduce offenses in this direction by strengthening the personal responsibility of heads of state bodies, economic entities in the field of environmental protection.
