Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul addresses to citizens planning to visit Turkey

After the resumption of regular flights en route Tashkent-Istanbul-Tashkent in September this year, the number of trips to Turkey for various purposes (business, medical, educational, tourism, etc.) has increased significantly, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul reported.

It is noted that upon returning to Uzbekistan, a PCR-test analysis performed within no more than 72 hours prior to the flight is required.

According to the statements of the relevant ministries and organizations in Turkey, foreigners with COVID-19 insurance can receive free treatment in public institutions when they become ill. It is also planned that tourists with mild forms of the illness will undergo 10-14 days of quarantine in a special room of a hotel, and the costs will be covered by the insurance.

At the same time, there are cases when citizens who were in direct contact with coronavirus carriers were forced to stay in hotels under compulsory quarantine. However, in this case, since the citizen is not directly infected with COVID-19, the insurance policies do not cover the cost of the hotel stay.

Citizens planning to visit Turkey for various purposes are advised to:

- purchase a health insurance policy, taking into account the risk of possible contraction of COVID-19;

- include in the insurance contract a clause “Reimbursement of relevant expenses if the insured has to remain in compulsory quarantine due to contact with the COVID-19 carrier, despite the negative result of the PCR test”;

- learn from the insurance agency about necessary steps to be taken in case of coronavirus infection.

“In turn, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, as well as the strengthening of quarantine measures by law enforcement agencies, we urge you to adhere strictly to hygiene rules and keep the social distance,” the Consulate General said in a statement.
