Uzbekistan’s population grew by 477.5 thousand people in nine months of 2020
The resident population of Uzbekistan as of October 1, 2020, amounted to 34 million 382 thousand people, up by 477.5 thousand people (1.4%) since the beginning of the year, the State Statistics Committee reported.
In particular, the urban population reached 17.4 million (50.6% of the total population), rural – 16.9 million (49.4%).
This year, 614.7 thousand newborns (live births) were registered, the birth rate per 1,000 population was 24 ppm and, compared to the same period in 2019, increased by 0.5 ppm (in January-September 2019 – 23.5 ppm).
The analysis showed that in the context of regions, as of October 1, the largest share in the total population of the Republic was observed in Samarkand (11.4%), Fergana (11.1%), Kashkadarya (9.7%) and Andijan (9.2%) regions.
