A new version of the Civil Code developed by the Ministry of Justice has been published for public discussion.
According to the draft document:
• norms of civil legislation in other laws and by-laws may not contradict this Code;
• ministries, agencies and other state bodies may issue documents regulating civil relations in the cases provided for by this Code and other laws.
Ignorance or misunderstanding of civil law shall not be a ground for non-application of this document or exemption from liability provided for in it.
The draft describes norms, property and non-property relations that determine the legal status of participants in civil proceedings, the basis for the formation of property rights, rights to intellectual property and the procedure for their implementation.
The draft may be amended, supplemented or rejected.
