Two cement plants suspend production due to lack of gas

The Antimonopoly Committee has informed that cement production at JSC Kuvasaycement and JSC Akhangarancement has been suspended due to lack of gas.

“Temperature falling below zero resulted in increased gas consumption by the population, which in turn reduced the pressure of the gas supplied to cement producers. Thus, the cement production at JSC Kuvasaycement and JSC Akhangarancement has been suspended,” the report says.

For this reason, these manufacturers were not listed in the stock market last week, the committee adds.

Thus, the average daily volume of the tender was 30,000 tons. Compared to the previous tender, a 34 percent decrease was observed.

The volume of cement sold amounted to 141,919 tons, which is 68,456 tons less than in the previous trading week. The decline in volumes also had an impact on the price, as it increased from 512.0 soums/kg at the beginning of the week to 539.1 soums/kg at the end of the week (5 percent increase).

It also caused the reduced bidding rate (the number of bidders declined from 1,054 to 817) and in the number of buyers (the number decreased from 556 to 373).

At the end of November, the Ministry of Energy denied rumors that the supply of electricity to cement plants had been cut.
