The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted the decision “On the introduction of a system of continuous seismological monitoring of water reservoirs located in seismically active zones of the Republic,” Norma reports.

The decree approved the proposals of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Water Management for the phased introduction of a system for continuous seismological monitoring of reservoirs located in seismically active zones.

The procedure for the introduction of seismological survey instrument system in reservoirs located in seismically active zones of the country, as well as the list of equipment and components to be procured for seismological observations have been approved with the document.

The Ministry of Water Management and JSC Uzbekhydroenergo, jointly with the Academy of Sciences and MES, have been instructed to gradually introduce and improve the system of continuous seismological monitoring of reservoirs, to ensure that the necessary conditions are met and that all the information needed for the phased implementation of the system is available.

The Regulation establishes that the seismological observations system includes the systematic accumulation, processing and analysis of data on factors influencing the seismic status of reservoirs, and assessment of changes in the seismic regime during the collection and discharge of water from the reservoir.
