Jihadists detained in Syrdarya
On January 21, during a joint operation of the SSS regional staff in Syrdarya and Internal Affairs Department, the activities of an extremist movement were suppressed, the press office of the regional DIA informed.
Two leaders of this group during seasonal work in the Russian Federation caught under the influence of radical groups, and after returning home, they promoted their destructive ideas among the population through the Internet.
In particular, they have uploaded on the Internet, stored and disseminated articles and reports of persons associated with extremist and terrorist groups prohibited by the Supreme Court decision, and financed them.
The leaders of this criminal organization launched a fundraising campaign for the reconstruction of mosques damaged by the floods after the Sardoba disaster in 2020, opening a charity group at Telegram. However, deceiving Muslim worshippers who wished to contribute to the restoration of the holy place, they were sending funds to Syria.
In addition, some of the detainees contacted their counterparts in Syria to plan their departure to that country after the quarantine restrictions had been lifted.
At present, investigations in the case continues and criminal proceedings instituted under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code.
