A new railway may be built between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan
A new railway line may be built between the Panjikent district of Tajikistan and Bulungur/Jomboy sections of Samarkand region in Uzbekistan.
Representatives of the Ministries of Transport of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan held talks in Dushanbe.
The talks focused on the construction of a new railway connecting Tajikistan’s Panjikent district with Uzbekistan’s Bulungur/Jomboy line.
The issues of electrifying the Bekabad-Istiqlol railway and the possibility of increasing the volume of transit traffic on this section were also considered at the meeting.
The sides discussed projects for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of international road transport, developing the Uzbekistan-Tajikistan-China transport corridor and reconstructing the Khashtyak-Bekabad checkpoint.
Earlier, it was reported that President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev would pay an official visit to Dushanbe on June 10-12 at the invitation of President Emomali Rahmon.
On April 24, in Khujand, the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and his Tajik counterpart Qohir Rasulzoda discussed preparations for the official visit of President Mirziyoyev to Tajikistan.
