President gets acquainted with construction process along the Chirchik River

Due to the narrowing of the Chirchik riverbed, an additional 210 hectares of land will be opened. In the open area, infrastructure facilities will be built in stages. The President instructed to increase the number of recreation areas.

On May 31, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of a project on beautification of the Chirchik River.

According to the presidential press service, the section of the river passing through the city of Tashkent is 16 kilometers. At this distance, it is planned to shorten the river and build various infrastructure facilities. In the first stage, 5 kilometers between Akhangaran and Bektemir streets are being regulated.

On June 26, the President inspected the construction process here.

Work on this section will be carried out in 2021-2022. Consequently, more than 34 hectares land will be formed.

The project consists of four stages. In the second stage, another 5 km of the riverbed will be regulated, in each of the third and fourth stages – 3 km.

In total, as a result of these works, 210 hectares of additional land will be opened. The area will be landscaped, recreation areas, walkways and local highways will be built. It is also planned to build modern housing, production and service facilities.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed the importance of this area for the city’s ecology and instructed to plant more trees and increase the number of recreational areas for the population.

Also, a meeting was held here with the participation of khokims of Tashkent city and districts, heads of sectors, chairmen of mahallas.
