According to the communiqué following the meeting of the defense ministers of the SCO member states, held in Dushanbe on Wednesday, the next meeting of the heads of the military departments of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization countries will be held in Uzbekistan in 2022.
“We decided to hold the next meeting of the defense ministers of the SCO member states in 2022 in the Republic of Uzbekistan,” the document says.
During the meeting, “the heads of the defense ministries agreed to continue to provide all-round assistance to the accession of India and Pakistan to the international documents of the SCO in the military field,” the communiqué says.
It was noted “cooperation of the SCO member states in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as in countering challenges and threats along the perimeter of the external borders of the SCO member states and the exchange of information in the field of military security”.
It also says that the meeting participants agreed to further expand cooperation in order to ensure regional stability and create favorable conditions for reliable sustainable development of the SCO.
