Mirziyoyev, Japarov discuss joint construction of a hydroelectric station

On August 6, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov as part of a consultative meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia.

As the press service of the head of state reported, Shavkat Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated Sadyr Japarov on his first participation in the consultative meeting and noted that this multilateral platform allows joint decision-making for the benefit of the entire region.

The meeting discussed in detail the implementation of the agreements reached during the state visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan on March 11-12 this year, as well as topical issues of regional security.

“It was noted with satisfaction that since the beginning of the year, the trade turnover between our countries has grown by almost 10% and exceeded $425 million. The practical implementation of joint projects has begun in priority areas of the economy, including industry, agriculture, textile, machine-building and other industries. Active cultural and humanitarian exchanges and interregional contacts have been maintained,” the message reads.

Also, issues of interaction in the energy sector, in particular, the joint construction of the Kambarata-1 hydroelectric station were discussed.

The head of state emphasized the strategically important importance of the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway project, noting the importance of speeding up negotiations on its construction.

“The President of Kyrgyzstan expressed support for the practical efforts of Uzbekistan to strengthen fruitful mutually beneficial cooperation in the region. He noted that the initiatives of the leader of Uzbekistan aimed at developing the interconnection of Central and South Asia meet the interests of the fraternal peoples of our region. An agreement was reached to continue regular contacts at the highest levels for the consistent development of cooperation in all spheres,” the press service said.

In addition, an exchange took place on topical issues of the regional and international agenda.
