Mirziyoyev and Merkel discuss evacuation of German citizens from Afghanistan in transit through Uzbekistan
On August 18, Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
According to the press service of the head of state, during the conversation, the parties considered topical issues on the bilateral agenda and exchanged views on the current situation in the region after the recent incident in Afghanistan.
The sides voiced mutual interest in preventing the escalation of tension and violence in Afghanistan, as well as the comprehensive support of the international community for a political settlement of the Afghan conflict.
The importance of continuing close coordination and active interdepartmental interaction in the implementation of humanitarian operations to evacuate citizens by air from Afghanistan to Germany in transit through the territory of Uzbekistan was also emphasized.
In addition, an agreement was reached on maintaining regular contacts at the highest level on the further development of the situation in the region.
