“We have reached agreements with Turkmenistan on the establishment of cross-border trade zone and opening of border checkpoint” – President
The distance to Ashgabat will be reduced by 400 kilometers, and transportation costs will be reduced by 1.5 times. This was stated by Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
“Over the next five years, Khorezm region’s exports will increase by 2.5 times, amounting to $500 million a year. For example, while exports of fabrics and finished textile products increased by 10 times compared to 2016, they will increase at least by another 5 times until 2026.
To this end, we have recently reached agreements with Turkmenistan on the establishment of a cross-border trade zone and the opening of a border checkpoint in Shavat. As a result, the distance to Ashgabat will be reduced by 400 kilometers, and transportation costs will be reduced by 1.5 times.
Also, when exporting products produced in the region, transportation costs to the Caspian Sea will be reimbursed 100%.
This is also a sign that we have been neighbors since centuries. The President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, will visit Uzbekistan soon, and we want to increase the volume of bilateral trade several times,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
