“Poverty in Samarkand will be halved due to creation of 450 thousand jobs” – Shavkat Mirziyoyev

“Reducing poverty in half by creating 450,000 jobs will be our top priority. To do this, we need to increase the gross regional product by 1.4 times over the next five years, to 90 trillion soums. For this, 130 thousand jobs will be created, primarily through the development of entrepreneurship and vocational training of the population. Within the framework of family business programs in the region, concessional loans in the amount of about 1 trillion soums will be allocated annually.

Using Narpay as an example, I will talk about how the new system will work to turn the area into an “unemployment-free area”. Currently, 14 thousand able-bodied residents of the region are unemployed. At the same time, 4 thousand families were classified as poor. Of the 57 mahallas in the district, 11 belong to red category and 33 – yellow.

Now, to organize the execution directly at the lower level, the positions of “khokim’s assistants” will be introduced, which will be assigned to the district mahallas. They organize systematic work to reduce poverty and create new jobs through the development of entrepreneurship in the region.

These assistants will be provided with financial instruments for lending to family businesses in the mahalla, assistance in the implementation of projects of leading entrepreneurs, subsidies for low-income families and their involvement in public works, vocational training for youth,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
