Government of Japan awards Sodiq Safoyev with Imperial Order

On November 3, 2021, the Japanese government published the list of foreigners who have been awarded the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun. The list includes the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan Sodiq Safoyev.

Safoyev was awarded for his “many years of service in strengthening bilateral ties and promoting friendly relations between Japan and Uzbekistan.”

The Order of the Rising Sun was established in 1875 by Emperor Meiji. It is awarded to those who have made distinguished achievements in international relations, promotion of Japanese culture, advancements in their field, development in welfare or preservation of the environment.
