Uzbekistan temporarily suspends flights of iFly Airlines on its territory
Uzbekistan has temporarily banned flights of the Russian airline iFly Airlines on its territory, the Ministry of Transport reports.
It is noted that in October 2020, the Uzaviation Agency sent a warning letter to airlines about stopping the practice of selling air tickets without obtaining the appropriate permission from the authorized body of Uzbekistan to perform charter flights to the airports of the country.
“Despite the warning, iFly Airlines performed charter flights without obtaining the appropriate permits on the routes Moscow - Urgench - St. Petersburg - Urgench - Moscow and Moscow - Navoi - Moscow, as well as St. Petersburg - Navoi - St. Petersburg. It led to social tension among passengers who arrived at the airport for departure,” the report says.
In this regard, the Uzaviation Agency made a decision to impose a sanction against iFly Airlines to temporarily suspend flights to Uzbekistan.
If such cases are repeated, the Uzaviation Agency will revoke operational permits for flights, the ministry added.
