Teachers in Uzbekistan earn 3.5 times less than teachers in Kazakhstan, 6.5 times less than teachers in Russia
The average monthly salary of a teacher in Uzbekistan is 2,868,608 soums (about $267).
It should be reminded that in accordance with a relevant decree of the president, salaries, pensions, stipends and allowances of employees of budgetary organizations increased by 1.1 times from September 1. Thus, salaries of teachers also increased accordingly from 2,607,826 to 2,868,608 soums on average.
The monthly wage of teachers in Uzbekistan is considerably low compared to the salaries of teachers in Russia, neighboring Kazakhstan, the developed UK and South Africa.
Teachers in Russia earn, on average, 131,000 rubles ($1,784) a month, while teachers in Kazakhstan earn 411,000 tenges monthly ($947).
The average monthly salary of teachers in the UK is £4,550 ($6,117), in South Africa 19,250 ZAR ($1,226), in India 24,100 rupees ($324) and in Kyrgyzstan 15,300 KGS ($180).
To note, the President of Uzbekistan earlier announced his plans to increase salaries of certain categories of teachers to $1,000 by 2025.
