“The point here is not only that labor migration has become a destabilizing criminogenic factor. We must also minimize the likelihood of new strains of coronavirus entering Russia. The third and main reason: we must protect our economy from cheap labor, which slows down its development,” the parliamentarian wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to the head of the Duma faction, cheap labor “corrupts business, allows you to save money on wages, retraining workers and upgrading equipment.”
“The Moscow authorities formulated this problem correctly: two or three times fewer people should work at a construction site, they should build two or three times faster and receive three times more. This approach should be extended to other regions and sectors of the economy, so the migration policy should be toughened up,” Sergei Mironov said.
