Ministry of Justice: Violating the rules of import and export of quarantined products will be fined

According to the amendments to the Administrative Responsibility Code, violating the rules of import and export of quarantined products in Uzbekistan will result in imposing fines on citizens up to 5 BCAs (up to 1 million 350 thousand soums) and on officials up to 10 times (up to 2 million 700 thousand soums).

On January 11, the President signed the law “On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the improvement of the system of plant quarantine and protection”, the Ministry of Justice reported.

The law introduced the following amendments to the Administrative Responsibility Code:

•  violating phytosanitary requirements and other rules for the control of plant quarantine facilities and other pests during the production, preparation, storage, transportation, processing, sale and destruction of quarantined products – citizens will be fined up to 3 BCAs (up to 810 thousand soums), officials – up to 5 BCAs (up to 1 million 350 thousand soums);
•  violating the rules of import and export of quarantined products in Uzbekistan – citizens will be fined up to 5 BCAs (up to 1 million 350 thousand soums) and officials – up to 10 BCAs (up to 2.7 million soums).

The law “On plant quarantine” has also been amended.

According to the amended law, it is prohibited to send high-risk phytosanitary quarantinable products, planting materials from abroad to citizens residing in Uzbekistan by mail and courier, including luggage and hand luggage.

The law will come into force 3 months after its official publication.
