Official Ashgabat ratifies agreement on Turkmen-Uzbek border zone
Turkmenistan has ratified the agreement with Uzbekistan on the establishment of a Turkmen-Uzbek border zone to promote trade relations.
The document was signed following the talks between the presidents of the two countries in Tashkent in October 2021.
The agreement is intended to significantly expand the interaction between the border regions of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan – the Lebap and Bukhara regions, as well as the Dashoguz and Khorezm regions.
Over the past 4 years, trade between the two countries has increased 5 times. In 2021, it grew by 65 percent, amounting to about $880 million.
