Birth and death rate, population density – Statistics Committee provides data on demographic situation in Uzbekistan

As of January 1, 2022, the highest population density by provinces was recorded in Tashkent, Andijan and Fergana regions, the lowest – in Navoi and Bukhara regions and in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

The State Statistics Committee has published data on the demographic situation in Uzbekistan for 2021.

As of January 1, 2022, the resident population of Uzbekistan amounted to 35 million 271.3 thousand people, more by 712.4 thousand (2.1%) compared to the previous year.

In particular, the urban population was 17 million 918.3 thousand people, the rural population – 17 million 353 thousand people.

The number of births in the country in 2021 increased by 63.4 thousand (7.5%) compared to the previous year, while the number of deaths decreased by 1.1 thousand (0.6%) compared to 2020.

The number of registered marriages increased by 8.3 thousand (2.8%) and the number of divorces grew by 11 thousand (39%).

As of January 1 this year, 31.2% of the permanent population of Uzbekistan were people younger than working age, 57.6% - working age population and 11.2% - older people.

In terms of regions, the highest population density was noted in Tashkent (835.1 people), Andijan (756.6 people) and Fergana (576.4 people) regions, and the lowest in Navoi region (9.3 people), Republic of Karakalpakstan (11.7 people) and Bukhara region (49.1 people).

In January-December 2021, 174.5 thousand people died, the mortality rate per 1,000 population was 5 ppm, having decreased by 0.1 ppm compared to 2020 (5.1).
