Project CURE to supply $3 million worth of medical equipment to hospitals in Aral Sea region

The American charity Project CURE has sent another $3 million worth of medical equipment to hospitals in Karakalpakstan, Dunya IA reported.

Reportedly, the container will be delivered to Karakalpakstan by sea and land on the US-Italy-Greece-Georgia-Uzbekistan route. Humanitarian aid is scheduled to reach its final destination by the end of April 2022.

According to the application of the Health Ministry of Karakalpakstan, the total volume of humanitarian cargo is about 7 tons.

Humanitarian aid to the Aral Sea region includes ultrasound machines and equipment, X-ray scanners, neonatal intensive care incubators, as well as defibrillators, laboratory instruments, oxygen cylinders, wheelchairs, anesthesia and respirators, mattresses for operating tables and other necessary medical supplies.

Project CURE is a non-governmental organization founded in 1987 to help developing countries overcome the shortage of modern medical equipment. The organization’s operations cover 135 countries around the world and ship 200 containers a year, each of which can hold an average of $300,000 worth of medical supplies.

Project CURE sent its first consignment of humanitarian aid to the Aral Sea region in May 2021. At the time, the humanitarian aid was worth $3 million and consisted of ten 40-foot containers containing medical supplies and equipment, as well as artificial ventilation.
