Experts name main cause of sand and dust storms in Uzbekistan, propose a solution to the problem
According to experts of the State Forestry Committee, land degradation is to be blamed, that is, the reduction of green cover.
“With the support of the Secretariat of the Convention to Combat Desertification and Drought, a National Action Plan was developed to combat dust and sand storms in Uzbekistan and reduce their negative impact,” the committee noted.
It is noted that a list of weak, medium-strong, strong and extremely strong areas prone to drought has already been compiled and a “roadmap” has been developed for planting greenery in these potentially dangerous zones.
