On July 27, a press conference was held with the participation of officials of the Ministry of Ecology. During the event, the Kun.uz reporter asked the officials about the fact that Tashkent is one of the leaders in the list of cities with polluted air and the source of dust. Feruz Safarov, deputy director of Uzhydromet service agency, answered the question.

“There are 14 observation points of the Hydrometeorological Service on air pollution in Tashkent. Two of them are automated based on global requirements and their information is being transmitted in real time.

We have been studying air quality in Tashkent for 50 years. Dust storms are primarily a consequence of the development of industry, the development of buildings, and the increase in the number of cars. To eliminate these, small automatic sensors are being installed based on the industrialization of the regions in accordance with the presidential decree.

The issue of determining the source of emissions and combating them is included in the decree.

It should be noted that our air pollution level is not always high. The information you are receiving is not obtained from the information of authorized government bodies. We have been saying this several times. We are currently merging and comparing the US Embassy data with our own. The information they provide is average, not an indicator that seriously affects human health,” Feruz Safarov said.
