Uzbekistan, South Korea discuss prospects for interregional cooperation

The Embassy of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting between Ambassador Vitaly Feng and Deputy Mayor – Ambassador for International Relations of the South Korean city of Daegu Chin Ki Hoon, Dunyo correspondent reports.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for expanding cooperation between the city of Daegu and the regions of Uzbekistan in trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and other areas of mutual interest.

The issue of holding a concert of artists of the State Academic Bolshoi Theater named after Alisher Navoi at the Daegu Opera House on March 26, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea, was discussed.

During the meeting, it was noted that an unprecedented delegation of 76 people from among the representatives of the Ministry of Culture, the creative team of the Bolshoi Theater will be on tour in the Republic of Korea from March 25 to 31 to hold concerts in major cities of the country.

The Deputy Mayor of Daegu stressed that this event would undoubtedly further expand cultural ties and deepen mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries. He assured that he would personally take part in the concert of Uzbek artists in Daegu.

Chin Ki Hoon also said that as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and South Korea, a delegation from the city of Daegu plans to visit Uzbekistan in the fall of 2022 and organize concert programs in Tashkent, Bukhara and Khiva. He also expressed a request to assist in speeding up the study of the issue of signing a memorandum on the establishment of sister city relations between Daegu and the city of Bukhara.

At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to maintain constant contacts between the Embassy and the Mayor’s Office of the city of Daegu for further elaboration of issues of interregional cooperation.
