Vladimir Norov: Uzbekistan is interested in further development and strengthening of the CIS
Speaking today at a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS Council of Foreign Ministers) in Dushanbe, Acting FM Vladimir Norov noted that Uzbekistan is interested in the further development and strengthening of the CIS, the steady increase in the international prestige of the organization.
“Today we are witnessing permanent geopolitical turbulence, radically changing international relations, increased factors of instability and uncertainty, escalation of hotbeds of local armed conflicts, an increase in terrorist activity and the devastating consequences of environmental problems. The consequences of these crisis phenomena have a serious impact on the entire space of the Commonwealth and create new challenges to peace and security, political stability, and the socio-economic development of the region. The swiftness of the events taking place in the world and the growing role of regionalization processes in international relations dictate the need for constant adaptation of the Commonwealth to modern realities,” the Foreign Minister said.
