Ministry of Higher Education provides information about new universities opened in Uzbekistan this year

The number of higher education institutions in Uzbekistan is growing every year. In addition to private universities, the number of public universities is also growing.

According to the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, there are a total of 162 universities in Uzbekistan. The number of non-governmental universities has reached 25, and the number of foreign universities and branches has reached 30. This year, several universities have been newly opened or reorganized.

Pharmaceutical Technical University

At the innovative research and production pharmaceutical cluster “Tashkent Pharma Park” Pharmaceutical Technical University was established, and admission to the university is carried out on a grant, fee-for-service basis from the 2022/2023 academic year.

The University is a state higher education institution established under the auspices of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, the activities of which are coordinated by the Agency.

Distance teaching university

IT-Park University Digital University was established by the government decision. Admission to this university will begin this year.

The non-governmental higher education institution in the form of LLC prepares highly educated personnel in the field of information and communication technologies, software development, information systems and computer network management.

Training of students is carried out on a fee-for-service basis. The educational process at the new university is based on a credit-module system, teaching is carried out in the form of distance learning, as well as in other forms of education in accordance with the law.

Its diploma is recognized in Uzbekistan.

Reorganized universities

Samarkand State Medical University

Samarkand State Medical Institute was reorganized as a university.

After the university’s reorganization, students studying at the Samarkand State Medical Institute until 2022 began to study at the university in the relevant bachelor’s and master’s specialties, graduating students will be awarded a state university diploma in the prescribed manner.

Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology

Samarkand Institute of Veterinary Medicine was reorganized into Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology.

The university is a basic state higher education institution that trains personnel in the fields of veterinary medicine, veterinary and sanitary examination, veterinary diagnostics and laboratory work, veterinary pharmaceuticals, zooengineering, veterinary biotechnology, animal processing technology.

Navoi State University of Mining and Technology

In addition, the Navoi State Mining Institute was reorganized into the Navoi State University of Mining and Technology.

The university plans to train highly educated specialists and scientific and pedagogical staff in the fields of industry, technology and engineering.

From the 2023/2024 academic year, the university plans to train staff on the basis of joint educational programs in the field of technology.

It should be noted that this year the coverage of higher education has increased from 28% to 38%. This also increases the chances of applicants becoming students. For the first time, a draft resolution on the introduction of distance learning in public universities has been announced. Therefore, given the introduction of distance learning at the non-governmental university IT-Park University, we can assume that in the near future Uzbekistan may recognize diplomas obtained by having distance learning.
