Customs officers prevent smuggling of phones worth 829 million soums from UAE to Uzbekistan (video)
Officers of the specialized customs complex “Tashkent-Aero” inspected the goods imported from the UAE by air at the customs post in the prescribed manner.
As a result, it was revealed that 4,530 mobile phones of 40 types were not indicated in the customs declaration and documents for accompanying goods by road. The total value of smuggled phones, transported with evasion of customs duties, amounted to 829.5 million soums.
According to the Customs Committee, if phones were legally imported into the country, 220 million soums of customs payments would be made to the state budget.
During the operative event, carried out by the operational structures of the Kashkadarya regional customs department in the city of Karshi, a car was stopped and inspected in accordance with the established procedure, which was driven by a citizen previously taken under surveillance.
It was found that in the car trunk there were about 100 foreign-made mobile phones, but without documents on quality and customs clearance, worth 49 million soums.
Over the last 5 months of this year, the number of mobile phones detained by customs officers increased by 1.3 times compared to the same period last year. In 142 detected cases, 7,200 mobile phones worth about 7.7 billion soums were seized.
Currently, the customs authorities are conducting pre-investigation checks.
