SCO summit in Samarkand to consider applications from countries wishing to join the organization
Participants of the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) states, which will be held in September in Samarkand, will consider applications from a number of countries wishing to participate in the activities of the organization, the Acting FM of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov reported.
“About ten more countries will be considered for participation in the activities of the SCO in the format of full members, observers and dialogue partners,” he said.
Norov also said that a memorandum on the obligations of the Islamic Republic of Iran in order to obtain the status of a SCO member state is already ready for signing.
“The document will practically open the way to the full membership of this large Middle Eastern country in our organization,” the head of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry emphasized.
