Uzbekistan, Egypt discuss prospects for strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation
Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Egypt Mansurbek Qilichev met with Deputy FM for Parliamentary Affairs Osim Hanafi.
During the conversation, the parties considered issues of expanding ties between the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Egypt.
Osim Hanafi said that the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt recognizes the important position of Uzbekistan in Central Asia and the Islamic world and supports active cooperation in all areas, including in the field of inter-parliamentary interaction.
The diplomat stressed that both sides are equally interested in the creation of the Egypt-Uzbekistan parliamentary friendship group. According to him, the establishment of close and reliable relations between the legislative bodies and elected representatives of the peoples of the two countries creates the basis for cooperation in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Following the talks, agreements were reached on considering the possibilities of organizing meetings of the heads of parliaments and members of the committee, as well as jointly developing promising areas of cooperation.
