Shavkat Mirziyoyev departs for Nukus
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev departed for Karakalpakstan. The Flight Radar service shows that in addition to the presidential plane, several other government planes headed for Nukus.
Official sources contacted by Kun.uz confirmed that the head of state went to Nukus.
Yesterday, July 1, a mass rally was held in the city. According to the officials, this was caused by the wrong interpretation of the constitutional amendments by some citizens.
Last night, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan announced that public order has been restored in Nukus, citizens will not be allowed to violate the law, and all their appeals will be considered in the established order.
Today, July 2, the parliament, government and Ministry of Internal Affairs of Karakalpakstan issued a joint statement, emphasizing that on July 1, a number of citizens gathered a group of citizens in front of the administrative buildings of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and tried to occupy these buildings.
According to the Karakalpak officials, they “manipulated the consciousness and confidence of the citizens under the guise of populist slogans”.
Law enforcement agencies put an end to the spread of attempts to organize mass disorder. A group of organizers of mass riots and persons who actively resisted the authorities were arrested.
