OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities to visit Uzbekistan
In accordance with the previously reached agreements, from July 28 to August 2, the High Commissioner on National Minorities of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE HCNM) Kairat Abdrakhmanov will be in Uzbekistan on an official visit.
The main purpose of his visit is to discuss with government agencies and other interested parties issues of cooperation and prospects for further interaction between Uzbekistan and the Office of the HCNM.
As part of the visit, Kairat Abdrakhmanov will hold meetings in the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, the ministries of foreign affairs, public education, higher and secondary specialized education, the National Center for Human Rights and the Committee on Interethnic Relations with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers. Meetings are also planned with representatives of cultural centers of foreign countries operating in the republic.
The post of the High Commissioner on National Minorities was established in 1992 as a tool for ensuring interethnic harmony and strengthening mutual understanding in different societies in the OSCE area of responsibility.
